About SHIROPA DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY:

Shiropa Development Society- a non-government development organization was established in 2003 by its Executive Director Md. Shohidul Islam in Mothurapur village under Daulatpur Upazilla of Kushtia district. It is a long-felt dream of Mr. Md. Shirazul Islam who is the father of Md. Shohidul Islam.

Mr. Md. Shirazul Islam is a great freedom fighter of the liberation war in 1971. He took part in many front operations against Pakistani army, he was also a brave army official in that time. After the liberation war, he went back to Bangladesh army and successfully completed his service life. In the time of liberation war, he visited village after village all over the Daulatpur Upazilla and had seen the suffering of distress people.

Daulatpur Upazilla situated in the western part of Bangladesh its Indian boarder of Noida district. This area is a natural disaster porn area. Every year river erosion and natural calamity destroys many settlement and agricultural crops. Most of the people are directly and indirectly involved in agricultural activities. Heavy dependence on agriculture has long contributed to seasonal unemployment among rural farm workers, as well as to a generally low standard of living in many areas. To do something for this distress people Mr. Md. Shirazul Islam inspired his elder son Md. Shohidul Islam to setup an organization for changing their socio-economic condition through the implementation of development activities.

By getting inspiration from his father Md. Shohidul Islam, Executive Director, has been initiated and launched need-based development activities for the distressed people. In the meantime, he has taken registration from Joint Stock Company and Firm, Department of Social Welfare, NGO Affairs Bureau and Micro-Credit Regulatory Authority (MRA) for maintaining regulatory rules and regulations. Many of the like-minded fellow friends, relatives, and social philanthropists have been contributed to financial and social support for implementing these development programs. In the meantime, the organization gets financial support from PKSF and Bangladesh Bank for running its Microcredit Program.
